OVERVIEW
What a lovely restaurant and restaurant location! Dayna and I traveled to NYC for our husband’s work conference and tacked on the weekend to enjoy some of New York’s amenities. We were thrilled to visit Bryant Park and decided to make a day of it! Bryant Park is located in the Midtown neighborhood of Manhattan known as Manhattan’s Town Square and was only 3 blocks from our hotel so it became a daily destination for us because we loved it so much. The architecture, landscape, and green space were adjacent to the New York Public Library, which is deserving of a visit all on its own. What a beautiful destination, it was very enchanting. There were many restaurants in the square area but Bryant Park Grill and Bryant Park Cafe seemed to be the best choice since their outdoor patios were a part of the park and scenery. Bryant Park Grill and Bryant Park Cafe had different menu options.
SUGGESTIONS
Our suggestions, which we feel are reasonable and easy to incorporate into what they have now, would be to fully mark the menu with the top 11 allergens or have a dedicated allergy-free menu option. We also would like to see what’s in those condiments so offering them in their original containers or single serve jars (for nicer presentation in more upscale restaurants) is a perfect solution.
MENU
The menu was well marked for gluten free and vegan, but no other allergens were noted. Since I have a tree nut allergy, I had to pay closer attention to the ingredients of each appetizer and entree and also rely on the waiter’s knowledge of the food ingredients and to convey my allergy properly to the chef. There was an online menu, but it was marked the same as the printed one. They had a bountiful menu with many options to choose from, even desserts that were allergy friendly.
TABLE
The table was clean, wrapped with a fresh table cloth, and had linen wrapped tableware. There were always extra plates provided for each appetizer to not allow for cross contamination. The food was delivered marked for gluten free, which was much appreciated. The condiments were served in single serving dishes rather than their original bottles.
WAITER
Our waiters were friendly and seemed knowledgeable about allergies and when there were any questions they didn’t know the answer to, they talked to the chef and either them or the chef communicated with us about our concerns and provided us with additional options. The waiters were very accommodating and also recapped our allergies while delivering our food which was also marked for our allergen.
