Brunch
OVERVIEW
Wagner's Pharmacy in Louisville, Kentucky is a historic landmark with friendly staff, but lacks food allergy safety measures. Cross-contamination and ingredient knowledge are concerns for allergy sufferers. The "down-home country" cooking is popular, but precautions must be taken. Despite ordering carefully, the meal included tater tots instead of skillet potatoes, causing issues due to gluten so they weren't eaten. The pharmacy is adorned with photographs of famous horses and owners, making it a unique visit for locals and tourists alike. Consider Wagner's Pharmacy for an authentic Louisville experience, but be cautious of food allergies. Rating 2.5 Stars
SUGGESTIONS
Diners with food allergies probably aren't their clientele, but it wouldn't be that difficult to make some changes and be able to serve them safely. After all, this is a Louisville Derby dining destination. Educating the waiters and cooks on food safety and cross-contamination would be a first step, adding allergy notations to the menu helps the waiters to know what is safe at their restaurant as well as the diner, and lastly regular sanitation practices would go a long way. We realize that the restaurant is a historic landmark and that leaving it as it is is part of the experience. It was a charming visit!
MENU
The Menu wasn't marked for allergies. A contactless - digital menu would be helpful too.
TABLE
We weren't sure if the table had been wiped down - they were very busy. The condiments were in unmarked bottles.
WAITER
The waiter was helpful and friendly, but wasn't educated on the restaurants ingredients, cross-contamination, allergens, but when prompted she was willing to help or get answers.
